Superman: Speeding Bullets (1993)

Baby Kal-El crashes into Earth, where he is discovered by Thomas and Martha Wayne. The couple decide to adopt Kal-El, and name him Bruce. One night, Thomas and Martha are gunned down by a mugger. Bruce incinerates the mugger with his heat vision and discovers his superpowers, but it is too late to save his parents. He decides to hide his powers in shame.

Bruce decides to create a secret identity for himself many years later. As the Batman, he begins to brutally strike back at the criminals in Gotham. Meanwhile, criminal Lex Luthor is on the run and is caught in a horribly disfiguring accident. Lex becomes this dimension’s version of the clown prince of crime, The Joker.

Bruce is eventually persuaded by Lois Lane that a more hopeful superhero is needed than his dark, violent Batman persona, giving rise to his new, more heroic identity of Superman.

Elfquest – Warp Graphics (1978)

Elfquest (or ElfQuest) is a cult hit comic book property created by Wendy and Richard Pini in 1978. It is a fantasy story about a community of elves and other fictional species who struggle to survive and coexist on a primitive Earth-like planet with two moons. Several published volumes of prose fiction also share the same setting. Elfquest was one of the first comic book series to have a planned conclusion. Over the years Elfquest has been self-published by the Pinis through their own company Warp Graphics, then Marvel Comics,[ then the Pinis again, more recently DC Comics and then Dark Horse Comics.

Thunderbolts V2 (2013)

A new team composed of Red HulkDeadpoolElektraAgent Venom, and Punisher debuted as a part of Marvel NOW! major relaunch. Written by Daniel Way with drawings by Steve Dillon. This incarnation is not a government-sponsored team.

Red Hulk assembles his incarnation of the Thunderbolts to be a strike team that is close to “Code Red.” He has gathered Deadpool, Elektra, Punisher, and Agent Venom because “their conditions cannot be cured.” Red Hulk has his Thunderbolts do things that are similar to X-Force. Red Hulk has obtained Samuel Sterns’ body and hooks it up to a machine that emits Red Gamma Radiation onto Samuel Sterns. Deadpool later finds Samuel Sterns’ as a Red Leader with no apparent powers as he expresses his view that the Punisher won’t be pleased. Punisher finds Red Leader’s body and shoots him between the eyes disrupting whatever plans Red Hulk has for Red Leader.

Evil Ernie: Straight to Hell (1995)

Evil Ernie has lost contact with his love the Lady Death. Distracted from his mission of Megadeath he goes in search of his missing mistress and will move all of Hell and Earth in order to find her. Read as old friends are reunited and Ernie makes bargains with his oldest enemies in order to be reunited with his one true love.

Birthright: The Serpent’s Eye (1996)

The Serpent‘s Eye is a limited edition Birthright comic book that is set in the Khinasi land of Khourane and on the Isle of the Serpent. The story, written by Ed Stark, revolves around Jehan, the new emir of KhouraneMarlae Roesone baroness of Roesone, Khalil El-Faran, Jehan’s uncle, who is half Masetian, and a mysterious woman named Corina who escaped from the Isle of the Serpent with a tale of an artifact called The Serpent’s Eye.

The Serpent’s Eye is said to provide the Serpent with his power. The group sets off on the dangerous mission to the Isle of the Serpent in an attempt to recover the artifact and end the Serpent’s tyranny.

Justice League United (2014)

Justice League United or JLU was created by Jeff Lemire and Mike McKone. First appearing in their eponymous series, Justice League United #0 (published in April 2014 and cover-dated June 2014), the team features Animal ManEquinoxGreen ArrowMartian ManhunterStargirlSupergirlAdam Strange and his partner Alanna Lewis. The team forms in the aftermath of “Forever Evil“, following the disbandment of the United States Government-sanctioned Justice League of America.

Lady Death: A Medieval Tale (CrossGen)

Into the darkness of a medieval world comes the ghost-haired woman bearing the sword of vengeance–Lady Death. This popular comic book series has been re-created as a Young Adult sword and sorcery fantasy, where Lady Death is caught in a war between humanity and the Eldritch races.

Flash V2 (2000’s)

Due to the Infinite Crisis miniseries and the “One Year Later” jump in time in the DC Universe, DC canceled The Flash (vol. 2) in January 2006 at #230. A new series, The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive, began on June 21, 2006. The initial story arc of this series, written by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meowith art by Ken Lashley, focused on Bart Allens acceptance of the role of the Flash.
