Star Wars: Dark Empire (1991)

Part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, the trilogy follows events in the Star Wars franchise years after Return of the Jedi, specifically the aftereffects of Timothy Zahn‘s Thrawn trilogy. The story deals with the return of the villainous Palpatine, having successfully cheated death by having his spiritual entity “reincarnated” through the essence transfer ritual and cloning technology. Other themes include Luke Skywalker temporarily succumbing to the dark side of the Force, the official return of Boba Fett (who had seemingly died after being swallowed by the Sarlacc in Return of the Jedi), and the first appearance of Princess Leia and Han Solo‘s son, Anakin Solo.

Star Wars: Obsession (2004)

Published by Dark Horse Comics, Star Wars: Obsession  ran from November 242004 to May 182005. The concept of the series was to lead directly into Episode III, but publication delays prolonged the release of the final issue until the day before the release of the film.

Star Wars: Dark Force Rising (1997)

The dying Empire’s most cunning and ruthless warlord—Grand Admiral Thrawn—has taken command of the remnants of the Imperial fleet and launched a massive campaign aimed at the New Republic’s destruction. Droids V2 (1994)

In 1994, Dark Horse Comics published a new series of Star Wars: Droids, continuing the story started in Dark Horse Comics Nos. 17–19. Set before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, the mini-series ran for six issues. A Special No. 1 was released in January 1995, followed by a second mini-series that ran for eight issues. A one-shot titled Star Wars: Droids – The Protocol Offensive was published in September 1997.

Star Wars: Darth Vader (2015)

Star Wars: Darth Vader is a Star Wars comic book series written by Kieron Gillen, with art by Salvador LarrocaMarvel Comics began publishing the comics on February 112015, and the series concluded with its twenty-fifth issue in October 2016. The story centers on the character Darth Vader between the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.

Star Wars: Rebellion (2006)

Star Wars: Rebellion was released in April 2006. The 16-issue series was a continuation of the series Star Wars: Empire and was presented as a series of miniseries, the first arc having five issues. In 2008, it was paused for six months to give precedence to the The Clone Wars monthly comic only to be officially canceled to make way for the upcoming Star Wars: Invasion comic series.

Star Wars: Legacy (2006)

Star Wars: Legacy is set over 126 years after the film Return of the Jedi. The comics feature Cade Skywalker, a descendant of Luke Skywalker, who was trained as a Jedi, but abandoned the order. He apprenticed himself to the pirate Rav and lives among bounty hunters, smugglers and pirates. Cade also dropped his last name. The series begins with an attack on the Jedi Temple and the overthrow of the Galactic Alliance by the One Sith order.

After a great and furious struggle, Cade and his friends manage to kill the evil Sith emperor, Darth Krayt. However, even without their leader, the Sith remain a powerful danger.

Star Wars: Darth Maul – Death Sentence (2012)

Darth Maul—Death Sentence 1 is the first issue of four in the Star Wars: Darth Maul—Death Sentence comic mini-series written by Tom Taylor.

By now the galaxy has learned the terrible truth: Sith Lord Darth Maul still lives. Worse, he has joined forces with his brother Savage Opress!

The Jedi are searching for them and, after Maul and Opress cut a murderous swath through the Outer Rim, so is an army of mercenaries hired by a wealthy mine owner.

Star Wars: Empires End (1995)

Emperor Palpatine has a new weapon – one that can annihilate a planet. But he’s not targeting a planet – he’s targeting the future of the Jedi, Leia’s children. It looks like a hopeless situation for Luke Skywalker, who has the critical task of protecting the children. But it’s not the first time Luke has found hope where none existed.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2006)

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a 2006 monthly Star Wars comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics. It takes place in the same timeline as the video games of the same name, eight years prior to the first game. The series ran for 50 issues.
