Lady Death, once the ruler of Hell falls prey to a band of barbaric pirates when the goddess Vandala sends her on an odyssey into the unknown, where her powers are at their weakest. Vandala forces Lady Death into acts of heroism, such as defeating the evil angel Agony, and the murderous siblings, Macabre and Malady. Meanwhile, Lucifer attempts to regain the throne of Hell by resurrecting his mighty warrior, Asteroth, and sending him on Lady Death’s trail.
Lady Death was originally published by Chaos Comics and remains one of the best examples of the bad girl titles that took the American comic book industry by storm during the late 1990s. The earliest issues of Lady Death were written by Brian Pulido and illustrated by Steven Hughes. Lady Death was originally conceived as a violent anti-hero, but subsequent iterations have toned down the more controversial aspects of the character.
Lady Death has reigned in Hell for 400 years when an unseen attacker torments her dreams and twists her realm while she is awake. He foe is the demonic Purgatori and she has a thrist for the blood of gods and immortals. She is a master deceiver and it take all lady Death’s cunning to bring out her foe so that they might battle face to face. But things are not as they seem and the pair are in fact puppets of a greater deceiver. Old friends and and enemies clash in this epic tale.
Into the darkness of a medieval world comes the ghost-haired woman bearing the sword of vengeance–Lady Death. This popular comic book series has been re-created as a Young Adult sword and sorcery fantasy, where Lady Death is caught in a war between humanity and the Eldritch races.
