Darkchylde (1996)
Darkchylde was created in 1996 by Randy Queen. It was originally published by Maximum Press, and later by Image Comics, through Homage Comics, a publishing imprint of Wildstorm. Subsequent projects would be published by Darkchylde Entertainment, through Wowio.
Darkchylde is the story of Ariel Chylde, a cursed teen who can become the creatures from her many nightmares, and then must save her small town from the forces of darkness she’s set free. Darkchylde was launched as a comic book property to immediate success in the summer of 1996. The book shot to the #1 hottest comics spot in Wizard, where it stayed for nine months collectively in both Wizard and Combo magazines. The book outsold Spider-Man, the Hulk, Superman, and Batman in America, and quickly garnered an unusually large female following, in stark contrast to the traditionally male comic book market.
Thief of Thieves (2012)
Thief of Thieves is a monthly comic book series published by Image Comics‘ Skybound imprint which premiered in 2012. Created by Robert Kirkman, the comic centers on Conrad Paulson, a highly successful thief who quits the business and begins a new life stealing from other thieves. The series will feature a rotation of writers, including Nick Spencer on the first story arc, and art by Shawn Martinbrough. The first three issues sold out upon release, and a television series based on the comic is in development at AMC.
Image Anthology (2022)
Celebrate the 30th anniversary of Image Comics with the anthology series Image! This 12-issue series will treat readers to all-new stories from some of the biggest and best names in comics. Edited by Image Comics’ Publisher Eric Stephenson and featuring a combination of ongoing serials and standalone short stories.
Curse of the Spawn (1996)
The first four issues of the series focuses on Daniel Llanso. His story is set some 400 years in the future in an apocalyptic world some time after Armageddon where the Devil Phlegethonyarre has his servant, Abaddon the Angel of the Bottomless Pit and their Undead Army of Nightmares (Necro-Soldiers, Zombies powered by Hell’s Darklight) dominate and hunt all humans.
The rest of the Curse of the Spawn issues focuses around related characters from the main Spawn series, like Jessica Priest, Sam and Twitch, The Angel Abdiel and Angela, Hatchet a Zombie Spawn, and other tales of other hell throughout the comics timelines.
Some of these stories include; An angel named Abdiel sent to spy on Malebolgia is tricked and banished from heaven, A Greek boy named Raenius, who was killed by Zeus (the god) and resurrected as a Hellspawn, who kills Zeus with the gorgon Medusa by his side.
Newburn (2021)
In this ongoing series from Chip Zdarsky and Jacob Phillips, Easton Newburn is a private detective without loyalties, investigating conflicts between rival crime factions while collecting enemies along the way.
Wytches (2014)
The series follows the Rook family, in particular their daughter Sailor. The family moved to the town of Litchfield, NH following an incident involving Sailor and a particularly vicious school bully named Annie. In this incident, Sailor was attacked and Annie went missing, prompting rumors that Sailor killed her. Eventually the speculation grows to the point where Sailor’s father Charlie and mother Lucy decide that the only thing to do is move the family to a neighboring town in the hopes of starting over again. This proves to be unsuccessful as some of the rumors have followed the family and Sailor still feels ostracized from her new school peers. The family is also largely unaware that the town is home to its own supernatural secrets, in particular a tradition where a person will pledge another to strange beings, wytches, in the nearby forest in order to gain a boon from them.
