A nine-man Resistance cell led by Colonel Mary Randallassaults a fully functional Skynet network complex 6 months after John Connor destroyed the Master Control central node. Within this facility is an operational Time Displacement Chamber, greater in scope than the prototype discovered by John Connor. Their mission is to utilize the TDE to return to 1984 and eliminate Skynet by killing key individuals in the Cyberdyne Systems hierarchy.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a comic book series developed by Dark Horse Comics as a prequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The series is written by Larry Hama and drawn by artist Marcelo Ferreira. It also has art done by colorist Dan Jackson. The first issue of the series was released on November 4. 2015.
The Amazing Screw-On Head is a one-shot comic book written and drawn by Mike Mignola and published by Dark Horse Comics in 2002, starring the character of the same name. Similar in tone and theme to Mignola’s better known Hellboy, The Amazing Screw-On Head is a black comedy that stars a robot living during the Lincoln administration whose head can be attached to different bodies with different tactical abilities, and who functions as an agent of the U.S. government.
The idea for the character was inspired by action figures, particularly Batman ones, which seemed to Mignola to be the same figurines with different paint jobs. Mignola imagined a robot with a head that screwed onto different bodies to suit the occasion, hence “Screw-on Head”. An animated pilot, based on the plot of the comic, was produced by the Sci-Fi Channel in 2006, with Bryan Fuller as writer and executive producer and Chris Prynoski as director.
Tank Girl is a British comic created by Jamie Hewlett and Alan Martin. The eponymouscharacter Tank Girl (Rebecca Buck) drives a tank, which is also her home. She undertakes a series of missions for a nebulous organization before making a serious mistake and being declared an outlaw for her sexual inclinations and her substance abuse. The comic centres on her misadventures with her boyfriend, Booga, a mutant kangaroo. The comic’s style was heavily influenced by punk visual art, and strips were frequently deeply disorganized, anarchic, absurdist, and psychedelic. The strip features various elements with origins in surrealist techniques, fanzines, collage, cut-up technique, stream of consciousness, and metafiction, with very little regard or interest for conventional plot or committed narrative.
The strip was initially set in a stylized post-apocalyptic Australia, although it drew heavily from contemporary British pop culture.
The spinoff series Tales from Harrow County was initially announced as a way to tell stories with different main characters from many different time periods of Harrow County. Misfit City artist Naomi Franquiz drew the first miniseries, Death’s Choir, with Bernice as the protagonist. Emily Schnall later joined the Tales from Harrow County team for the second arc.
Hellboy: Weird Tales is a Dark Horse Comics bimonthly eight-issue limited series that offered a variety of guest writers and artists the chance to give their own take on the Hellboy characters created by Mike Mignola whilst he was in Prague working on the first Hellboy movie. The issues were published bi-monthly to alternate with a series of B.P.R.D. one-shots and were collected in two trade paperback volumes.
In 1994, Dark Horse Comics published a new series of Star Wars: Droids, continuing the story started in Dark Horse Comics Nos. 17–19. Set before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, the mini-series ran for six issues. A Special No. 1 was released in January 1995, followed by a second mini-series that ran for eight issues. A one-shot titled Star Wars: Droids – The Protocol Offensive was published in September 1997.
X-Wing: Rogue Leader is a three-issue series of comics published by Dark Horse Comics. It takes place one week after the Battle of Endor. The first issue came out on September 28, 2005. This comic series comes directly before the series X-Wing Rogue Squadron.
A Dame to Kill For is a comic book limited series written and drawn by Frank Miller and first published by Dark Horse Comics in 1993. It is the second story in Miller’s Sin City series, and the first to be published in miniseries format. It has since been reprinted in graphic novel format in four separate editions.
In his review for the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, James Blasingame said that even though A Dame To Kill For is a quick read, it has a complex story. He says, “All of the elements of a good novel are present, plot; beginning, middle, ending; dramatic crescendo; fully developed characters; complex constructions of narrative perspective; and, despite Miller’s graphic style, not so black-and-white socially troubling questions about the nature of good and evil, justice, and redemption.”
Nail-hard tough and drop-dead gorgeous, Barb Wire is the baddest bounty hunter on the mean streets of Steel Harbor, where gangsters can lift bulldozers and leap rusting factories in a single bound. The hunting is stupid good and the bounties are hella big – if Barb lives long enough to collect!
