Hellboy: Seed of Destruction (1993)
Before Hellboy was published independently at Dark Horse Comics, the concept was initially pitched to a board of directors for DC Comics, who loved it, but did not like the idea of it involving “Hell”.
The early stories were conceived and drawn by Mignola with a script written by John Byrne and some later stories have been crafted by creators other than Mignola, including Christopher Golden, Guy Davis, Ryan Sook, and Duncan Fegredo. The increasing commitments from the Hellboy franchise meant that the 2008 one-shot In the Chapel of Moloch was the first Hellboy comic Mignola had provided the script and art for since The Island in 2005.
Hellboy: Weird Tales (2003)
Hellboy: Weird Tales is a Dark Horse Comics bimonthly eight-issue limited series that offered a variety of guest writers and artists the chance to give their own take on the Hellboy characters created by Mike Mignola whilst he was in Prague working on the first Hellboy movie. The issues were published bi-monthly to alternate with a series of B.P.R.D. one-shots and were collected in two trade paperback volumes.

Hellboy: Being Human (2011)
A horrible witch and her zombie servant host a dinner party for a family of corpses, and Hellboy and Roger turn up to blast them all back to hell in this team-up story from Roger’s early days at the B.P.R.D.
Hellboy: The Bones of Giants (2021)
The Bones of Giants is a four-issue miniseries released, November 2021, written by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden with art by Matt Smith. It is an adaptation of the 2001 prose novel Hellboy: The Bones of Giants also written by Mignola and Golden.
Hellboy – The Sleeping and the Dead (2011)

Makoma (or A Tale Told by a Mummy in the New York City Explorers’ Club on August 16, 1993) tells the story of a legendary African king, told to Hellboy by a mummy. At the same time Makoma’s story parallels Hellboy’s own life.
Hellboy: Wake the Devil (1996)
Hellboy: Wake the Devil is a five-issue comic book mini-series in the Hellboy franchise, conceived and illustrated by Mike Mignola and published by Dark Horse Comics. Various elements and section of plot were later used in the animated film Hellboy: Blood and Iron.
